Best restaurant for ethnic food in the Finger Lakes

The Finger Lakes region is dotted with lots of great restaurants but this week we turn our attention to ethnic restaurants. The Finger Lakes, after all, are not without culture and variety. This week the local innkeepers give their recommendations on the best restaurant for ethnic food in the Finger Lakes.

El Rincon Mexicano Dos - The menu offers a wide selection of Mexican dishes with authentic flavor, all of which come prepared with chicken, pork or beef. All their dishes are made with authentic ingredients imported from Mexico. Try an individual burrito, enchilada or a combination platter; which comes with about 3 or 4 different items. Each dinner is complete with a side of rice and beans. The drink menu is is also authentic with wide range of top-shelf tequilas, margaritas and an opportunity to enjoy most any Mexican beer. Located at 5 Beeman Street, Canandaigua, at the North end of Canandaigua Lake. ~ Nancy & Al - Gorham House Bed & Breakfast

Garcia's - Recently opened.  Fernando was born and raised in Mexico and is an excellent chef....it passed HIS scrutiny  and that says a lot.  The Garcia Family is from Mexico. Located next to Staples in the plaza across from Wegmans, on Rt. 5 & 20 in Geneva at the North end of Seneca Lake.   ~ Cristina & Fernando Diaz - The Farr Inn

New Delhi Diamond's Bar and Restaurant - Better known to Tony and me as "Diamonds". It's easy to get to, it's casual, friendly, with a large selection of Indian food. We've enjoyed the food immensely, especially the vegetarian dishes, which is a treat for us, since we are, all things considered, basically, your average American carnivores! Some people love the place, other guests come back less than ecstatic. Go figure taste! Located at 106 West Green Street in Ithaca at the South end of Cayuga Lake ~ John  - John Morris Manor B&B

Thai Cuisine - Rated one of the best Thai restaurants in NY. The service, presentation and food quality is excellent. Located on Rt 13 (S. Meadow St) in Ithaca at the South end of Cayuga Lake. ~ Judith Austic - Barrister's Bed and Breakfast

Kyo Asian Bistro - It offers a wonderful selection of Thai, Korean and Japanese dishes. This small establishment offers great atmosphere, especially in the winter when the stove is burning. And, if you don't know what you are ordering, your might be burning as well with some very spicy selections. Kyo offers many "small bowls" to pick from as well as a number of full dinners. All to be enjoyed with a fine selection of beer and wines of the world, with of course, sake. Located on Exchange Street in downtown Geneva at the North end of Seneca Lake. ~ Donna - Yale Manor B&B

Taste of Thai Express - Anyone who hasn't tasted the sea bass (it's usually not on the menu - you have to request it) or the Tom Kha soup at Taste of Thai II in Ithaca (the one on West State Street, although Taste of Thai on the Commons is pretty good also - but more expensive) doesn't know what they are missing. I never knew fish could be so incredible or soup so full of flavor Located in Ithaca at the South end of Cayuga Lake. ~ Erick Smith - Brookton Hollow Farm Bed and Breakfast

House of Hong - A nice little Chinese restaurant with great traditional chinese food in the heart of Watkins Glen. The dishes are served family style, so it is easy to share, and the food is so good you will want to. They also get bonus points for serving Finger Lakes wine. Located on the corner of Rts. 414 and 14 in Watkins Glen at the South end of Seneca Lake. ~ Steve and Kathy Wirt - Wine Country Cabins Bed and Breakfast
