Best Finger Lakes wineries for blush / rose' wines

Among the red and white wines of the Finger Lakes there are some that fall in between. Blush wines are made from white grapes but stained with either a bit of red grape juice or the skins of red grapes. While Rosé wines are made from red grapes but the juice is separated from the skins early in the process which leads to the light pink color. Either way they have some wonderful flavor on either the dry or the sweet ends and make wonderful wines for the heat of summer. Our innkeepers have been gracious enough to share their recommendations for the best Finger Lakes wineries for blush or rose wine.

Prejean Winery - We like Prejean Winery's Tiger Lily Blush wine. Located on the West side of Seneca Lake. ~ Jack and Donna - Bed & Breakfast at Oliver Phelps

Damiani Wine Cellars - We recently did a few wineries again on the East side of Seneca and discovered Damiani!  Not only were the wines excellent, but the conversation was as well - he even let us sample his champagne!  As for blush...  he has one that is a little different than most blushes - it's on the dry side.  Fabulous for those that like their wines not so sweet. ~ Laura - Catharine Cottages

Hazlitt 1852 Vineyard - produces four sweet rosé wines that are definite crowd pleasers. Their original hot-tub wine, Red Cat (sweet) and another easy sipper Cabin Fever (semi-sweet) combine with a berry blend, Bramble Berry, and a sparkling rose, Lame Duck. A fun low pressure place to taste wine with a healthy balance of sweet and dry wines to choose from. Located on the East side of Seneca Lake. ~ Steve and Kathy Wirt - Wine Country Cabins Bed and Breakfast

Barrington Cellars - Pink Cat is a nice blush wine. It's sweet without being too sweet and a good choice for people who are just learning to drink wine. Being "Cat" people, we couldn't resist the label, and were delighted to find the wine enjoyable as well. The folks at Barrington's are always friendly and the views of Keuka Lake are fantastic. ~ Susan and Burney - Los Gatos B & B
