Best Winery in the Finger Lakes for Sweet Red Wine

Many people call it pizza wine or hot-tub wine. It the kind of sweet red wine that chills nicely and goes well with casual and spicy food in the heat of summer. The Finger Lakes has some great varieties of sweet red wine to offer. Our innkeepers weigh in on the best wineries in the Finger Lakes for sweet red wine.

Anthony Road Wine Company - on the West side of Seneca Lake makes a great red wine that's a little on the sweet side. It's called Tony's Red. ~ Sheryl Mordini - 1795 Acorn Inn B&B

Bully Hill Vineyards - Sweet Walter Red seems to be the only one I have found that leaves the palate wishing it had just a tad more. It is very smooth, seems to make you feel upbeat even if only from its charming name (like its creator) ,and of course it always gives the pourer the opportunity to tell the fascinating tale of Walter from Bully Hill and his war with the big money folk at Coca Cola. I find that everyone has to go to Bully Hill after they hear the story . . .and where can you find a more fun time than in their tasting room? Located on the West side of Keuka Lake. ~ Fran Ambroselli - Ambroselli's Villa Serendip

Knapp Winery - They have a Loganberry wine that is a blend of Cayuga White and loganberry juice. It's a favorite! Located on the West side of Cayuga Lake. ~ Judy Austic - Barrister's Bed and Breakfast

Hosmer Winery - I do enjoy Sangria with Mexican meals. I give Hosmer Winery two thumbs up. Beyond the Sangria, Hosmer has a wide selection of very fine award-winning wines. Located on the West side of Cayuga Lake in Ovid. ~ Donna Cunningham - Yale Manor B&B

Tickle Hill Winery - This easy going, family run, winery does a great job with sweet wines in general and their sweeter reds go down easy. And of course it doesn't hurt that they also come in 1.5 liter bottles. For a little winery, the number and range of wines they produce is quite amazing. Located on the east side of Seneca Lake in Hector. ~ Steve and Kathy Wirt - Wine Country Cabins Bed and Breakfast

Fulkerson Winery - I would have to go for the Fulkerson Red Zepplin, just the right amount of sweetness to compliment any and all food groups. And at $ 7.00 , a real bargain. Located on the West side of Seneca Lake. ~ Jaynee and Guy Straw - Inn on the Main

Lakewood Vineyards - We are not much for drinking the sweet wines but given the choices, I think that Lakewood has a sophisticated pallet for most of their wines and we enjoy some of the sweeter ones on occasion. Located on the West side of Seneca Lake. ~ Wayne and Laura Lynch - Catharine Cottages B&B
